Fourth of July Weekend!

Hey y’all it's Dottie here!

Is everyone having a great 4th of July weekend? I sure hope so!  Just in case my fellow hokies don't know what to do this weekend, here are a few ideas that I think would be tons of fun:

Historic Smithfield the Spirit of America Celebration

Friday July 2nd, 2021

5:30-8:30pm

Ring in Independence Day with the whole family at Smithfield! Enjoy shopping, cooling off with shaved ice, horseback riding tours, and observing artillery displays. At 6:30 there will be a ceromony featuring excerpts from The Declaration of Independence. Following the ceremony will be a cannon salute.

Hike The Cascades

Spend the weekend hiking Cascades Falls Trail. Cool off by swimming in one of The New River Valley’s most sought after waterfalls. The trail is a 3.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Pembroke, Virginia. This trail is easy-moderate, bring the kids and the dogs!

Eat at The Blacksburg Tavern After your Hike

After hiking all day you're going to get hungry, stop into Blacksburg Tavern on your way home. The tavern has great fried chicken that your family and friends will love.

Fireworks at The Old Blacksburg High School

July 4th, 2021

9:30-10:30

The fireworks show hosted by The Town of Blacksburg will be held rain or shine! Bring the family out for a night on the lawn. Don't forget a chair or blanket and get there early to get a good spot!

Have fun this weekend, and stay safe!

Xoxo, Dottie
