Dottie's Thank You to Moms
Hi, Hokies! Sunday was Mother’s Day and I was oh so excited to spend the entire day with Momma Dot. I’m thankful for Momma Dot every single day, and even though I love her very much, sometimes I forget to tell her. Thankfully, Mother’s Day reminds me of how lucky I am to have a Momma bird like mine. In honor of all the mothers everywhere, today’s blog will focus on the beauty mothers bring to this world.
Stevie Wonder once said, “Mama was my greatest teacher; a teacher of compassion, love, and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love.” Truthfully, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Mothers do so much; they do things that are noticed daily, and they do things that are sometimes subtler and forgotten. They carry their children until their wings are weak. They snuggle until their babies fall asleep. They give the last bite of their favorite food to their child when they ask. They share laughter, love, and memories with their child. They teach their children how to speak and sing and walk and dance. They help shape personalities and mold important moments. They share secrets and happiness. A child’s happiness is the mother’s happiness – and that says so much.
I have so many favorite moments with Momma Dot. She taught me what it means to be a Hokie and the true meaning of ut prosim. She taught me respect and love, passion and determination. She’s done so much for me over the years, and she continues to love me with her soft Hokie heart.
I could write a thousand pages about mothers and all they do for their children, and that still wouldn’t be enough. From the heart of a child, thank you to all mothers around the world. You continuously touch hearts and change lives. We love you oh so much. You’re truly heroes. Happy (belated) Mother’s Day!
Xoxo,
Dottie.
